Lantern Nets
Lantern nets can be ideal for growing bay scallops or sea scallops, and can be great for growing oysters as well. Our custom lantern nets can be purchased at either 5 levels or 10 levels, for either nursery purposes (6 mm mesh sides and bottom) or for growout purposes (12 mm nylon mesh bottom and 21 mm monofilament sides).
We always have these four sizes in stock, and we can make custom sizes if you would like more or less levels, different materials, colors, etc.

Land Based Nursery Systems
Nursery systems for oysters, clams or scallops
Often times it’s easiest to grow seed shellfish in land based systems, which are easier to maintain, clean, grade from, and reduce the need to reach beneath your feet like in a floating system. We offer the tanks, silos, mesh sizes for the bottom of the silos from 35 um through 5 mm, and all associated pipes, pumps, and everything you need to get up and running.
We also can provide engineering consulting to build out the system, platforms for ease of use, and permitting assistance in whichever US state you are farming in.
Scallop floating upweller
You can’t grow grow oysters under the sand like clams, and you can’t grow mussels in floating bags like oysters, and you can’t grow scallops (bay or sea) in floating nursery systems designed for oysters or clams either. Unlike any of those species, scallops swim, and that means a completely different way is needed to grow them in a high density, high yield nursery system.
We have spent over a decade designing and optimizing the nursery system, which mimics the same basic principles as a floating oyster or clam upweller, though specifically tailored to the needs of scallops. Producing seed oysters or clams (quahogs, soft shell clams, surf clams, etc.) requires a nursery system, and nothing will produce greater volumes than in floating in-water upweller system. Our systems have been customized to provide high flow with no pump cavitation, lifting points so there is no backbreaking lifting required, high water flow (800-900 gpm), and high quality design for decades of long term performance.
We sell kits including hardware, silos, a trough, piping and pump so all that is needed is for you to build the frame; and we will supply plans for that too. Or, built a completely built system and pick it up or have it delivered to your site. Either way, we can supply what you need for a floating nursery system, at whichever level of construction and customization you are interested in.
